Puppies at Playcare

Alpha Doggy Playcare is the perfect place to safely socialize your puppies to dogs, people and unfamiliar environments whilst they are young! We love meeting young pups and seeing them grow into their adulthood.

Playcare is perfect for puppy owners who aren’t yet comfortable leaving their young pup home alone for various reasons such as:

  • Your puppy isn’t toilet trained

  • Your puppy whines or barks when left alone

  • Your puppy chews or destroys things when you’re not watching

  • Your puppy still needs to be fed lunch during the day

    • Owners can provide lunch and we will feed it to your puppy. A $5 fee is charged for this service after 6 months of age

  • You want to check in on your puppy during the day

The Perfect Place to Safely SocialiZe your New Puppy!

Puppies can start attending Playcare from 10 weeks of age and we recommended coming along as soon as possible. The younger the better! Puppies are kept safe by only socialising with other puppies under 5 months of age or with small dogs that are still young at heart. Our professional trainers are always close by to step in and help our puppies interact nicely and politely when needed. We will begin teaching your pups how to behave appropriately around other dogs from a young age. This gives your pup a great start to becoming friendly and polite member of society as they grow up.

Best of all we love getting to see our gorgeous puppies play together and have a great time. The puppies play with each other, play with toys and love having staff cuddles. They also love to curl up on a bed together for a quick powernap between play sessions.

After a fulfilling and fun day at Playcare you’ll be sure to have one sleepy puppy when you get them home!

WE LOVE WATCHING OUR PUPPIES GROW! -

  • The critical period for puppy socialisation is between 8 - 16 weeks, we can get your puppies socialisation started at Playcare as soon as they turn 10 weeks old. Your puppy's personality and traits are formed throughout this critical period. Fears can become more ingrained during this time and positive experiences will help to form a happy go lucky little pooch.

  • It's not easy to provide the right type of socialisation for your pup. You can't just throw a heap of puppies into a room and "let them sort it out themselves". If they are hassled, overwhelmed, or shy, they need to learn that they are safe and how to be more confident. If they are boisterous and a bit of a bully, they need to learn manners. These manners and trust should be learnt in a safe and controlled environment, rather than in a random and unpredictable one (such as a dog park).

  • At Playcare we will provide a safe space for socialisation and fun with expert guidance from our professional dog trainers.

Why is Puppy Socialisation Important?

  • Your puppy must be fully vaccinated to a C5 level by 17 weeks of age

  • We cannot mitigate all risk of your puppy contracting a disease at Playcare before being fully vaccinated; however a number of procedures are in place to keep this risk as low as possible. We follow council regulations regarding vaccination records, adhere to strict daily cleaning procedures of the centre and equipment such as bowls, toys and beds.

  • All other adult dogs in the centre will be fully up to date with their C5 vaccinations which minimizes the risk of your puppy getting sick

  • The critical period for puppy socialisation ends at 16 weeks of age; therefore it is essential to begin socializing your puppy during this time. Without proper socialization and training of your puppy at a young age there is a very real risk of developing serious behavioural issues in the future.
